Digital Art Part One

Hello guys, here is a little update on my digital drawing since I got my new tools. If you have no idea what I am talking about please check this post.

I’m very happy drawing random stuff these days. I don’t really have a plan or project going on. I just created things that come to my mind. Here I will share with you some of my digital work and hope you will enjoy it. Though I didn’t have plans while drawing these pieces I still manged to categorise them into various groups. Therefore in this Digital Art Part One you will see drawings done with materials like chalks, pastels, pencils, and similar media.

 

A Family Lunch

This is a really random and fun piece to me. I had this idea of depicting a fly family having a meal together after telling my husband a joke. Here is the joke. One day son fly asked daddy fly why they have to eat poopoo all the time. The daddy fly then said to his son “don’t say such disgusting thing while we are eating.” This joke was told in Mandarin and it was actually quite funny. Not sure if it’s still good in English.

 

Into the Looking Glass

When I started to work on this piece I just had this image in my mind. The finished piece seems a bit darker than I expected.

 

You Can’t Have It

I dedicated this piece to my husband because he has been on a diet without sugar. He is a huge fan of desserts but we are cutting sugar from our diet for a while. Sometimes he talks about how he misses cupcakes and all those good stuff. I can hardly understand his struggles because I don’t have a sweet tooth at all. BTW it’s a pudding in the picture.

 

Thousand Strands of Worry

I only realised I was drawing myself after finishing this piece. I gave the face a mole under the corner of her eye and that is exactly where I have mine. The face looks a bit sad and thoughtful I guess it does reflect my mood these days.

 

Running from the Rain

In the beginning, I just wanted to draw a little dog running around with a little girl. This image inevitably embedded with a sense of uncertainty. Can they make it under the tree brefore they’re soaking wet? Will there be sunshine after the rain? A silver lining maybe? We don’t know what’s gonna happen to the girl and the dog because everything is frozen at this moment.

 

What do you think of these work? They are all created using Procreate. I am still trying out different brushes and enjoy using chalk and pencil brushes a lot.
